- When you call our number you will speak directly to a Companion.
After business hours:
- You will get an answering service.
- The answering service will ask for your first name and phone number.
- The answering service will notify the on-call Companion who will call you back within 15 minutes.
- If you do not want to leave your name, that is OK. As long as you will pick up the phone when we call you.
24-Hour Crisis Line
The Rape Crisis Center operates a 24-hour crisis line (1-866-WE LISTEN (1-866-935-4783)) for survivors of sexual violence, their friends and loved ones.This service is free and confidential.
Trained volunteers called Companions answer this line and provide support. All Companions receive 63 hours of training before answering the crisis line.
We have two Companions available 24-hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The way to reach us is by calling the Center's 24-hour crisis line (1-866-WE LISTEN).
If you are a survivor of sexual violence, friend or family member and you call our 24-hour crisis line we can:
- Talk with you over the phone.
- Meet with you face to face.
- Provide emotional support.
- Accompany you to the hospital, law enforcement, or through the court system.
- Provide specific information about laws.
- Provide referrals to support groups and individual therapy.
- Help you find reading material.
- Answer questions about the healing process.
We have both female-identified* and male-identified* companions. You can request to speak to a companion of either gender expression. If you request to speak to a male-identified companion, you may need to make an appointment.
*OCRCC acknowledges the terms female-identified and male-identified reflect the gender binary. We recognize there are a multitude of gender expressions and identifies and we are striving to make our services more accessible to all people.
Services for Non-English Speakers
The Orange County Rape Crisis Center can provide services utilizing interpreters to non-English speakers through its 24 hour Crisis Line. For Spanish-speakers, we provide Spanish-Speaking Advocates who can work with clients on our crisis line, as well as interpreters when no Spanish-speakers are available. To access these services, call the 24 Hour Crisis Line at 1-866-WE-LISTEN (935-4783) and leave your first name and phone number.
A Companion (with an interpreter if necessary) will return your call within 15 minutes.
