Support Groups

Support Groups provide education, mutual support, sharing and encouragement.

The Center's Support Groups are:

  • Free and confidential.
  • Led by two trained facilitators who have experience working with survivors of sexual violence.
  • Time limited, typically meeting once a week for eight to twelve weeks.
  • Closed to new members once they begin

The Orange County Rape Crisis Center does not offer therapy groups (Groups led by one or two licensed/certified therapist); however, the Center will gladly make referrals to therapy groups in the community.

Upcoming Support Group

Healing with Movement and Art (workshop series)
November 1 – 22. Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30.

Movement and artistic expression are wonderful means for healing. This workshop combines the two in a series of four workshops structured to support the healing journey and reconnect mind and body. No previous experience with movement or art required! Dancing Freedom is authentic movement, free dance, and guided meditation.

Building on the five elements — earth, water, fire, air and ether — as themes, we'll move through different moods and tempos of music and explore how our bodies move and respond. After dancing, we'll have circle time to journal in words or images and share our experience of the dance. Expanding upon the first half's theme, the second half of each session will provide creative opportunities using color, texture, and the three dimensions. We will find ways to express the emotions, thoughts, and images that our movement has evoked with a different multi-media project each week.

All our services are free and confidential. Screenings for groups are required. If you are interested in participating or if you have questions, please contact Krista Park Berry, Programs Director at (919) 968-4647 or email groups@ocrcc.org.
